Lingerie by Hollee, Life Lesson by Jaime

dotted_balconette_003_copy.jpg
I know I’m not the only one who does this. Well. I hope I’m not the only one who does this. I’ll go out on a limb here- have you ever breathed an SL sigh of relief that you remembered to wear underwear?

I’m not talking about clean underwear like Mom told you to wear, I’m talking about any underwear.

It happens on occasion that I’m dressed to the nines in my SL best- whether it’s formal or club, casual or business- and I go home with a special someone and then learn that I’ve forgotten underwear. Glitch shorts, prim skirt, jacket layer, tattoos, whatever else we have going, it’s a lot to balance, and when you think you have one more layer between you and naked and then suddenly you don’t, it can be a bit awkward.

Having a folder full of nice dependable underpants you can find quickly is a good thing. With some lingerie sets being more complicated than rocket science, they may not be dependable when you need something in a hurry, so do yourself a favor and invest in some simple bra and panty sets that will go with most everything and mark them so you can find them when you need them.

I had this very thing happen to me not long ago. I was disrobing for a fashion thing, (boring, I know, I know) and discovered, much to my relief, that I was in fact wearing underwear. Not only that, I loved them! They were an adorable pair of boyshorts and I took them off to put on whatever outfit I was supposed to wear, and I haven’t been able to find the darn things since! Lost in my inventory for who knows how long.
A few days later, when I was out shopping and stopped by Lingerie by Hollee I thought of this and realized it’s a good lesson for us all. Douglas Adams told us to always know where our towel is, Jaime Wheeler says always know what folder your underpants are in.

Two perfect choices for your underwear folder are featured here. Both are by Lingerie by Hollee. Sheer Entwine, shown below, is a very sexy little lace thong you’ll just love, and dotted balconette, above, is fuller in its cut and features touches of lace that make it both sexy and gorgeous. Both sets come in a wide range of colors and as all of Hollee’s things are priced well below market value I think you’ll be pleased with the price.

Nymphetamine did it again…

Favourite designers? Me? Is it really that obvious?

190108Nymphdemhotbtch.jpg‘Hot Bitch’ is the lingerie set for Demetia, and it’s drawn with Paeoti Pomeray’s usual attention to detail. The strapless corset, a signature for the style, is silver trimmed, with moulded cups and a plunge front with zipper to fasten. Metallic print runs from the curved edges up the central channel, like wisps of smoke, a feature repeated to the back. The satin shimmers in the light, the material tucking to the body’s movement, rippling against the skin.

The lower half is a plain body style, high leg with partial coverage to the rear. Highlights emphasise your buttocks, with gentle rumples at the crotch for added detail. Large buckles attach thick suspenders to the knickers and thigh highs, the stockings opaque and drawn with the same care and attention that is given to the rest of the outfit. Wrinkles define on both legs, with silver motif on the top banding.

The shoes I’m wearing go perfectly with this outfit, with a killer heel and distinctive piping to pick out the lighter shades in the lingerie. They’re Legato by Adam n Eve, and are also well-paired with smarter daywear and most of your dark evening dresses.

190108Nymphdempantcor.jpgShould you prefer a little more coverage – for your lower half, at least – the Demetia pants and corset set should inspire you. The cropped corset top is exactly as before, but the set is completed with a pair of skin-tight leggings and intricately buckled belt. Composed of two straps, one solid and one slim studded, they meet at the front in an accented disc, with studded wire surround and central disc. This also comes as a separate jacket layer, and so can be worn with other things: now I love prim belts, some of them are beautifully made and they can absolutely make an outfit, but being honest they are a nightmare to fit properly, and no matter what I seem to do, the moment I throw a pose I can almost guarantee part of my body will be brutally sheared by my pretty accessory. As such, this is a godsend for those of us who don’t want to waste time fiddling.

The trousers are short to the leg, designed perhaps more for boot wear than shoes, but I was having too much fun in these stilettos to change. They feature central seams to the front and back of the leg, depth to the fabric added with soft highlights. This set is wonderfully glamorous for such a simple style; Paeoti is queen when it comes to pulling off an outfit like this.

Sneak Peek at Simone’s New Line

style_starts_here.jpgI was talking to Simone Stern about reviewing a super sexy bunny costume available at her store, and she teased me with a “well, there is something in the works…” sort of reference.

Torn between getting my child to dance class on time and hearing the scoop, I of course chose the scoop. (Hold on. As there are enough stories out there about parents neglecting their kids while they’re in Second Life, please know I am kidding and we made it to dance class early).

Anyhow- Simone, who I feel is one of the most talented of the Second Life designers, is launching a major new line in the next few weeks. I glommed onto the lingerie, of which there is much and wow is it nice. (An actual chat transcript from my whirlwind tour of the new line…)
Jaime Wheeler: Wow
Jaime Wheeler kicks herself for saying Wow so many times.

Suffice it to say you will be amazed at both the quality and quantity of work you’ll see. Above is one of the pieces of lingerie, and since I know I’ll never get myself as arranged as the model in the pic, I saved some time and used the advertisement picture. As you probably already know, Simone Stern’s clothes are always well made and always priced so that everyone can afford them. The model looks great, even I look good, and you will too.

Simone’s new line will launch in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime I have some other dazzling pieces of her new lingerie to show off, but as with all good things, you’ll have to wait. In the meantime, take a trip to Simone’s main store and check out the bunny costume that started it all.

French Black Swirl by Reasonable Desires

French_Black_Swirl_1.jpgWhether you’re one of Second Life’s burley girls or just want to bring a little of the old razzle-dazzle to the comfort of your own home, you could do a lot worse than Reasonable Desires‘ French Black Swirl Showgirl. As far as visual impact goes, this little number has it in bucketloads - and at just $L199 you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck (if you’ll pardon the phrase!). In fact, the people who have seen me in this outfit have often responded with just a single word: Wow!

While the shop stocks a range of Vegas inspired costumes (including the elements range and a black lacy number), French Black Swirl has a certain vintage charm that makes it without doubt my favourite of the shops’ range.

For your money you get a headpiece, two back pieces, bodysuit, stockings, gloves, tiny gems to wear on the thighs, choker and arm cuffs. Be forewarned - the jewelery blings, though this is easily removed with the help of a ’scrubber’ script.

The texture work is, on the whole, good, with no screamingly obvious seams. It does get a little fuzzy in places, but you wouldn’t notice unless you zoomed right in. And thanks to its simple black and white theme, the outfit is ripe for tinting. I tested it, and it works very well. In fact some of the other girls I work with have used the prim attachments for the same outfit, tinted them and teamed them up with different lingerie sets - giving you even more mileage.

As ever with an outfit like this, there are a few alpha issues - but these are barely noticeable when in motion.

The set is no copy, so be careful if you decide to adjust any of the prims. Personally I chose to move the back piece from its original attachment point (spine) to the pelvis, as I felt it moved more naturally when dancing this way.

Welcome Lisbeth DeCuir

Lisbeth_Profile.jpg

It is truly an honor to welcome Lisbeth DeCuir to the SexySecond team. Lisbeth is a self proclaimed burlesque or ‘burley’ girl who has a passion for vintage style. Using Second Life as an outlet for her passion for the burlesque, Lisbeth can be seen dancing at The New Champagne Rooms. She reports to us that she is constantly on the look out for new costume ideas and hopes to bring a little slice of the Golden Era to the metaverse. Her typist is also a writer with a weakness for all things retro - but she tends not to do the dancing.

Lisbeth will be reviewing all manner of things from the grid, with an emphasis on vintage and stage costumes. We are all pleased to have her on our team, and when you read her writing, we’re certain that you’ll join us in being a fan of her work.

Lavish Style

Lavish_Style_007.jpgTake a look at this new little number from Lavish Style. It’s a very well drawn and very cute 3 piece lingerie set called Abriel. It comes in four different colors, each color sells for L$265. I know it’s lingerie, but I’ve been wearing it all around the grid today it’s just so cute! The spiderweb cutwork motif really helps this stand out from other camisoles, and the tiny flexi ruffed skirt makes it, in my mind, enough of a substantial garment to wear out. (No one has yelled at me yet, for the record).

The other items I took a look at from Lavish Style were also lingerie. Levanah is a four piece set featuring a super shine finish, almost a foil effect, especially in the color I looked at, which was silver. The detail on the piece, especially the stockings, is impressive. Levanah sells for L$325 and comes in four interesting colors.

Lavish_Style_004.jpgLavish_Style_002.jpg
The third new Lavish Style outfit I looked at is called Lovely and it’s a steal. It’s a cute five piece set that sells for just L$295. I believe that the color you see here is the only color it comes in.

Katy Angel of Lavish Style makes great clothes. The textures are always well drawn and the designs offer a nice twist to set them apart from the humdrum. Take a trip over to Lavish Style and see what you think

Leslie from Insolence

There are designers I come back to time and time again, and one of them is Camilla Yosuke. Insolence lingerie is always so beautiful that you can’t help lusting after it, and in my case, going so far as to start trawling the ‘net to see if there’s anything you can buy for real that’s even half as nice.

Leslie is a simple bra, panty and stockings set. Simple but oh-so sexy, and you just know you’ll want it in every colour available (of which there are six). I’m in grey, misty rose and sea green here.

140107Insolence.jpgPlain black straps support the scallop cup bra, the satin embroidered with a soft floral that is echoed throughout the set. A dark lace trim decorates and runs down to split the cups, meeting to the centre with a tiny black tie - for those of you who usually have to remove Camilla’s delicate little prims because they sit over your clothes, this can be worn as seen beneath your daywear as the tie is drawn. (And it still looks just as nice!) The back of the bra is made from a tulle lace, with a covered hook fastening.

140107Insback.jpgThe panties are beautifully cut a made from the same decorated satin, with high legs and a low lace-edged front. The side straps are thin, joining to meet the mesh back which is sheer enough to show off your butt cleavage: naturally I thought I’d show you mine so that you can compare. Camilla very kindly finished Leslie with a pair of tailor made hold ups, offering flowery uppers with a narrow back seam to detail these semi-opaque stockings.

It’s effortlessly gorgeous, understated but beautiful. It says “I wasn’t expecting you to see me in a state of undress!” and “Imagine what I wear when I’m really trying to impress…”

If the search engine doesn’t work fast enough for you, you can teleport to Insolence from this link. If you need to put some Lindens in the bank beforehand, I’ve even done the maths for you: $200L times six is exactly $1200L….

Biddles Boots

Biddles_004_copy.jpgLooking for some boots that are new and unique? Try Biddles Boots, a new shop by Valentine Biddle. The boots I tried are called Onice. The heel is thick and substantial looking and the big silver studs that adorn the crushed suede finish give the boot’s design a solid feel, possibly quite like the Harley you rode to the club on. At L$599, these boots left the bargain park, but a quick swing around Biddles store shows some other nice designs that are a bit cheaper and still stylish. I look forward to more designs from Valentine, as these certainly are a hit with me. Now, where did I park that Harley?

Ivalde meets Chapeau Tres Mignon

130107CTM.jpgMegg Demina creates some wonderful things, and her latest has had plenty of people reaching for their purses, and indeed bloggers tapping at their keyboards. This delightful 1920s style headpiece was a nightmare to find hair for – well, everything in my inventory had too much bouff at the front, so a quick trip to Calla was in order – but once you have the perfect ‘do, you’ll be delighted with the results.

Cameos mounted in gold and fixed with dark ribbons sit high on either side of the head, connected with double strands of rounded beads. Wide chains fall from scrolled accents, finished with a single sphere. The tied bows have flexed lengths that hang to the side of the face, moving easily as you do.

130107Ivalde.jpgThis happens to go very well with a number of dresses from Ivalde, my favourite of which is ‘Henny’, shown here in black and gold. The sleeveless style has a high neck and keyhole opening to the front, featuring a mass of intricate beadwork that creates the collar and feeds into the material of the dress to make up a large portion of the design.

The skirt is open-fronted with system underlayer, which works for an interesting effect: be warned that the pretty beadwork will stretch when you flex your legs a little too much, but even with the imposed design limitations, I still found this worked rather well. Lozenges of colour fan from the belt and downward in an unusual pattern that I don’t believe you will find anywhere else. The pencil skirt is slightly scalloped and skims the knee, while the prim layer encircles the legs in a series of rigid pleats. It has a very slight transparency to it and moves well.

I really love this dress, but did note that the side seams were ever so slightly out under the arms: you really won’t notice unless you’re being as pernickety as I am when I’m in review mode (you ought to know by now!). The dress is unusual and despite it being a period piece, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to wear it out. It’s available in four colours, including the gold/black, so if you want one of your very own, then you need to visit Ivalde sharpish, and stop by at Chapeau Tres Mignon shortly after in order to claim your matching headpiece. If you don’t usually stock shorter dos, I can definitely recommend Calla as your final destination.

Someone remind me, what’s the French for ‘Squee’..?
