I was contacted by Hiram Walker regarding the store he and his wife run named ‘Sexy in Pink’. I’m generally not a pink sort of person, but found when entering the store that these budding designers have not limited themselves to one colour choice: hurrah for misleading advertising!
Up first is a little number called ‘Red Romance’. It comes with the jeans as shown, but I’m all about what’s up top with this one. This crepe shirt is to die for, corrugated throughout and sporting ruffled trims and a corded tie to the front that sits knotted centrally to the chest. Raised edging creates an encompassing band for added definition, giving the lower panels a skirted look as they curve down from either side at the front. Seams aren’t quite perfect on the central banding, but SIP is a relatively new label and that will come with time - you can easily excuse it for the textures and lighting that are evident on this piece. The bottom fringe comes on the jacket version of the top and finishes the back perfectly with more crinkly goodness. To ensure nothing is missed, you’ll also find the matching pleated cuffs in the set, which are exquisitely floaty.
I’m actually being a little naughty in only showing you half the design: the red top actually comes in a jacket and flat shirt layer, and there is a little vest top in black lace that you can wear underneath. The red top alone does it for me, and it feels wrong to spoil the show by wearing much beneath, however much I am sure Hiram slaved over it. I’m a bad girl, but someone can punish me later.
I also like this flirty black dress, more with the short than the long skirt (you get both to choose from), but only because I like to show plenty of skin. The colour is jet and as such is a little flat, but enriched by diamante studs that form patterns to the waist at the front and back, removing the need for a belt. The v-neck is wide and comes in gently to flatter the bust, the stud detail continuing at the neckline and along the double shoulder straps, which split and cross at the back in a glitzy latticework that is both elegant and interesting. I have to mention that the side seams aren’t quite accurate, but if you maintain a ladylike posture you won’t find it a major issue. Handless gloves compliment nicely, and it doesn’t need much by way of jewellery to finish this ensemble.
You will of course find plenty in pink here if it’s your choice of colour, but there is also a lot more from casual clothes to formal frocks. What’s more, if you visit the store on the 3rd and 4th of November, there’s a 50% Off sale to celebrate six months of Sexy In Pink.
Red Romance: $200L, Miles of Sparkle: $250L
