Sexy In Pink
I was contacted by Hiram Walker regarding the store he and his wife run named ‘Sexy in Pink’. I’m generally not a pink sort of person, but found when entering the store that these budding designers have not limited themselves to one colour choice: hurrah for misleading advertising!
Up first is a little number called ‘Red Romance’. It comes with the jeans as shown, but I’m all about what’s up top with this one. This crepe shirt is to die for, corrugated throughout and sporting ruffled trims and a corded tie to the front that sits knotted centrally to the chest. Raised edging creates an encompassing band for added definition, giving the lower panels a skirted look as they curve down from either side at the front. Seams aren’t quite perfect on the central banding, but SIP is a relatively new label and that will come with time - you can easily excuse it for the textures and lighting that are evident on this piece. The bottom fringe comes on the jacket version of the top and finishes the back perfectly with more crinkly goodness. To ensure nothing is missed, you’ll also find the matching pleated cuffs in the set, which are exquisitely floaty.
I’m actually being a little naughty in only showing you half the design: the red top actually comes in a jacket and flat shirt layer, and there is a little vest top in black lace that you can wear underneath. The red top alone does it for me, and it feels wrong to spoil the show by wearing much beneath, however much I am sure Hiram slaved over it. I’m a bad girl, but someone can punish me later.
I also like this flirty black dress, more with the short than the long skirt (you get both to choose from), but only because I like to show plenty of skin. The colour is jet and as such is a little flat, but enriched by diamante studs that form patterns to the waist at the front and back, removing the need for a belt. The v-neck is wide and comes in gently to flatter the bust, the stud detail continuing at the neckline and along the double shoulder straps, which split and cross at the back in a glitzy latticework that is both elegant and interesting. I have to mention that the side seams aren’t quite accurate, but if you maintain a ladylike posture you won’t find it a major issue. Handless gloves compliment nicely, and it doesn’t need much by way of jewellery to finish this ensemble.
You will of course find plenty in pink here if it’s your choice of colour, but there is also a lot more from casual clothes to formal frocks. What’s more, if you visit the store on the 3rd and 4th of November, there’s a 50% Off sale to celebrate six months of Sexy In Pink.

In Effect - Nymphetamine
Paeoti Pomeray was the first designer I reviewed on Sexy Second, and with her latest release ‘In Effect’, I couldn’t resist blogging her again. Still, I knew you wouldn’t be too disappointed with me when you saw what was on offer.
This set contains plenty of pieces for mix and match; you can wear it as underwear, outerwear, a little for now and something for later… however your imagination allows for it.
The bodice is simply done, strapless with silver studs running under the upper trim. The satin sheen is achieved with careful lighting that brings this to life, hinting at a richness and quality in the fabric that begs attention. The back scoops low, with crossed straps to add some interest to otherwise bare skin; the top can be worn cropped or longer with the jacket layer to cover the stomach completely.
Beneath you’ll find the panties - plain but brilliantly textured and cut high to the leg. These can be worn with or without suspenders and both versions come on the trouser layer, presumably to allow for tattoos - not that you’ll want anything other than these seamed fishnets adorning your legs. The seaming here isn’t perfect (I wouldn’t like to imagine the lengths you’d have to go to in order to match all those little hatches perfectly) but anyone who is looking that closely for mesh lines when you’re wearing this needs their head examining. The big buckle details on the straps are of the same styling as those on the gloves, which you will probably feel the need to wear with everything in your current wardrobe: I love the detailing that centres these on the middle finger, making them both unusual and glamorous. They finish the set perfectly however you choose to wear the other pieces because they pick up on detailing from every section. Expertly done, Paeoti.
If you’re big on bows, you’ll adore the prim skirt which is constructed from layers and layers of delicate netting, with a solid underskirt for a little more depth. With two dinky bows to the front and a larger flexi version behind, when paired with other pieces from the set, you can construct a look that manages to be pretty as well as naughty, which isn’t something that always flows together too well.
Although this is priced at $650L, you do get nine pieces to the set to allow for a number of different looks, and can pair off parts with other items in your wardrobe. Take a trip to Nymphetamine and take a little look for yourself. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Laure - the siren song of Insolence
Camilla Yosuke woos me with her wicked talent, and every time she calls I go running like a well trained puppy. I’m going to be confined to a small room staring at myself for the next week because I don’t think I can get over the sheer brilliance of her new design, Laure.
This must have been crafted with love, because the warmth of adoration washes over me every time I look at this. Every care has been taken over each inch of this, from the scalloped trip at the top to the concise curves that define the base of the bodice and the edges of the garter belt. Velvet leaves adorn the sheer cups, the forest design merging into solid panels that path the front of the corset, flanking delicate ribboned arches. It’s centred with criss-cross laces that work from bottom to top, wrapping you tightly and holding everything in place. The sides have a smoky transparency to contrast the richness of the rest of the fabric, but you’ll find more velvet overlayed to the low-cut back. To finish at the front, you’ll find two prim bows which I love, but can be left off if you prefer a flatter line.
The garter belt is part of the set, but isn’t a compulsory wear as you have a few options with the set. Seeing as I’m very much a stockings and suspenders girl, the belt stays, and you can’t deny it’s one of the most fabulous you’ll see on the grid. Velvet sweeps the front, boxed in by more mesh, but there’s lace here too for some added luxury. This also appears on either side of the panties, which make perfect lines and don’t seem to bleed or smear no matter what ridiculous poses you slide yourself into.
Stockings come as part of the set, and are simple but very well made. The lack of frills and spangles means that all eyes are on the main course, which suits me just fine when you’re talking about something this special.
I’m modelling in Emerald, but Laure comes in five colours, and quite honestly they’re all equally gorgeous: but don’t just take my word for it, run on down to Insolence and try them for yourself. $290L, and worth every penny.
Some Choices for Halloween
The Halloween Season in Second Life looks like it will be way too much fun. Most every night there is a costume event and there are so many great costumes out there it’s hard to pick which one to buy, and then, which one to wear!
The latest into the pool is Arikinui Adria of Nuclear Boutique with a hot pirate, a nurse and Bo Peep. There are prim arm ruffles and sculptie sheep (with Bo Peep) and a teddy bear (with the nurse) and prim skirts for just L$200. The Pirate set is especially big, with color combinations of black, white and red.
Style Your Destiny offers some great booty shorts outfits with a Halloween theme. Here you see their sexy pirate, they also have candy corn, fall leaves, skulls and other October motifs that just rock my sox. (And look at these sox! they so rock!) Want to hear the best part? This little fun outfit is only (drumroll) L$ 45.
There are a ton of people who have made great costumes for Halloween and a month of posts couldn’t scratch the surface. Adam n Eve just came out with a line of costumes for example that I haven’t had a chance to get over and buy yet but I surely will. I especially like the look of the bunny.
Celestial Studios and Last Call have teamed up to make a great set of sexy Halloween costumes. Seen left is the witch, which comes with a great hat and a broom. Each of them is L$300. I’ve been wearing the witch costume around for a week now and absolutely love it.
Let Your Panther Out at Feral Spirit
Miss Jaime tells a funny story about the first time she saw a Panther grrl in Second Life and followed her around like a puppy trying to either find out her beauty secrets or get captured by her or both. When a friend told me about Feral Spirit I saw what all the fuss is about.Arabeth said it well the other day about something she was reviewing, OMFG!
Everything made by Feral Spirit is prim work, and the detailing is incredible. Up top we have Forest Midnight Huntress, which is L$600 and includes the prim top and loincloth style skirt, arm brace and those wonderful boots with the knife. To the left we have what I think is my favorite of the three, Savage Winter, which is L$650. These come with two pairs of boots, one fluffy and one not.
This set to the left is another one that will take your breath away with the detail. Spirit of Ost is L$ 700 but the laces and sinews and incredible attention to detail on it will break your heart. It comes with a mature version, in which much is see-thru too. All of designer Melanie Jaehun’s tops come as attaching to the spine or the chest, in case as a good Panther Grrl you have weapons to carry too.
So this is what I’ve been wearing around the SexySecond office all week, and now that I’ve reviewed these gorgeous pieces I’m headed out to the jungles to get my Panther on.
Coconut Ice
Don’t do scary at Hallowe’en, but still feel like a bit of fancy dress? You could do a lot worse than this unseasonal, impractical but completely fabulous Summer Faerie outfit from Coconut Ice.
The top of the outfit comes on the jacket layer, detailed to the front with the leaf and wisteria pattern that themes this outfit. It is held with silvered cords that stretch at the sides and cross to the back. The crafting is immaculate; while symmetrically designed, each leaf is realistically cut and tapered to conceal all the necessaries. Despite this showing off more than its fair share of skin, it’s perfectly modest and suitable for even a PG party.
I adore the prim skirts that sit on doubled wires to the waist. Peppered with tiny wisteria jewels for some added glitz, the overlapping flexi leaves flutter gently about your legs. The full skirt is strategically gapped to ensure your thighs will slide into view when you move into the appropriate poses, but you will find variations on the skirt to allow for some personal styling. The skirts come in two sizes, but can be taken apart prim by prim and resized (upwards) for your convenience.
While floaty armbands are usually my weak spot - and these dainty little drapes do make me want excuses to throw my arms above my head - it was the wings from this outfit that really seduced me. Sprouting from budding twigs, the segmented gauze ripples in movement, the opacity still allowing you to admire the rest of the costume beneath. Uneven scalloped edges lend a delicacy to this that is irresistible: all the angels and succubae will be seething with envy when you arrive at the party in this.
You may have noticed a little bit of sparkle in the pictures: while I don’t usually like bling, when you’re a button-nosed pixie wearing naught but twigs and flower heads, a little twinkle here and there seems perfectly natural. If you enjoy particle effects, the set also includes a set of wings that come with their own, but I think this draws quite enough attention to itself without anything extra added.
Andromeda Raine is quite a marvel, and if you haven’t already picked out your party gear, you should definitely have a look at Coconut Ice over the weekend.
Summer Faerie (Wisteria): $599L
Onsceno at Babele Fashion
Babele Fashion is an Italian label by Pinco Janus, and I just had to share with you this particular piece from her collection. Onsceno is a cheeky frock that plays two roles: with the lace body stocking it’s interesting and almost demure, and without it’s just plain naughty - but isn’t that so much fun?
The asymmetrical halterneck barely protects your modesty, although this can be remedied with pasties and panties if you intend to go clubbing in it. You won’t find an awful lot to this, and the minimalist look is fantastic for showing off your latest skin. The system skirt is slatted over the right leg to reveal… everything actually, cutting around to the rear to show just a glimpse of your behind. While Onsceno is available in a few colour choices, I feel that this one contrasts the most sharply for the best result, whilst still
carrying enough shading for a rounded finish.
The lace layers contrast perfectly and look great underneath the dress; the pattern doesn’t glue precisely at the seams, but you’ll barely notice. The lace itself is creative with plenty of open spaces to contrast the tight-knit flowers; although this was unfortunate planning on the left of the chest (depending on who you ask). I am fascinated by the contrast between the softness and boldness; what could have been completely wild is actually dressed down to a funky chic that I am quite besotted with.
This outfit does comes with shoes, but they were really too big for my feet so I used my own in the pictures.
Asymmetrical designs always run the risk of being unbalanced, but Onsceno holds together beautifully, providing a visual feast from any angle. At only $200L it’s affordable too, and you know it will look great however you choose to wear it.
No.9 Nylons
Criollo Forcella has a thing for vintage nylons and stockings and we’re lucky to reap the benefit. Her shop, No.9 Nylons, sells hosiery: stockings, pantyhose and fishnets, and even some lingerie. Her details are great and prices are reasonable, with a package of seamed stockings and separate garter belt starting at L$39.
In the pic to the left is one of only a few ensembles N0.9 offers. It is the Comtesse in Champagne, which is L$ 169 and includes 3 styles of garter belt, panties, bra, little ruffle prim skirt, and gloves. The stockings are separate. The pair in the picture are the special vintage edition in cream, which is L$ 129 but includes a 1950s style 8 strap garter belt. With the seam and reinforced toe and heel, it really is a trip back to days before pantyhose. A similar vintage pair of stockings is only L$59 if you want the look without the detail.
This is another of the No.9 lingerie sets, Corsage Noir, for just L$139. The stockings, again separate, are Shiny Dark and go for L$59.
In my real life I avoid pantyhose like the plague and I might dig through the closet for stockings once a year, but my Second Life self loves the look and getting them on and off with just a click is much better than RL, so No.9 Nylons has a fan here. Most of the shop is given over to hosiery with package deals available on nearly everything. Run yourself over to get some hose that will never run.
Lavish Style
There’s a lot in a name, and this one hit me right between the eyes: Lavish Style. “This should be my cup of tea,” thought I, and so took a closer look at what was on offer. Katy Angel has far too much in store to put in one post, but here are a few samples to stir your interest.
Because everyone’s costume crazy right now, take a look at ‘Love Bug’, a
thirteen piece set that’s rather tongue in cheek. I usually reject cuteness, but this is rather fun, especially with the wacky hairdo and antennae that give a ’stuck on an alice band’ feel. I love the gloves which are almost liquid on the skin, the spot pattern looking quite fabulous even when it stretches in motion. The overshirt is immensely detailed and does a good impression of a second skin, loaded with creases which lend a great deal of credibility. If only due to the detailing, you wouldn’t feel embarrassed to wear this shirt with a pair of pants on a less dressy day. The skirt is micro-mini to show off it’s net under trim, but you may find your legs draw more attention when dressed in these super spotty thigh-highs. Of course, you can strip down a bit further to reveal the butterfly pasties and wicked little shorts; if you want something quirky but well made, you could certainly do a lot worse than this.
‘Darkspell’ has a rubber feel to it. There is quite a lot going on here, but if you look closely you can see how the various textures, shades and patterns are quietly mimicked elsewhere to bring the outfit together: note especially the use of the interlocked hearts at the waist, up the glove sleeves, and to the front of the bodice. Red and black are always a killer combination, but this is something a little different, particularly with the neck dress. While it sits flat as part of the clothing, it doesn’t look too much like it’s etched into your skin, which I appreciate. The seams have been carefully matched, and although if you really look you may find a few parts of the glove mesh don’t sit dead on, if you’re paying that much attention you will quickly move on to all the other details, my favourite coming by way of these glorious rumpled stockings. I suspect a lot of work went into making these look effortless, and I appreciate every moment of labour. The honeycomb patterning is brought to life with careful shading and highlights, which you’ll find in evidence all over this outfit. Even the finish on the top is carefully thought out, a ragged edge working well in preference of the usual perfect trim.
I was most impressed with Katy’s new underwear, ‘Sexy Thoughts’. I love lingerie that covers everything but leaves an audience wanting more, and this set is a definite over-achiever. A sleek design, the metallic bows add a touch of definition, punctuating the arcs and frills that border the bra and panties. While the laceup details on the gloves seem a little vague, I wonder if anything sharper might have detracted from the look here: I like that it is sassy without being aggressive and can change its tone when accessorised with some girlie slip-ons or aggressive heels. Again, Katy demonstrates flair with the lighting, proving that black doesn’t have to be flat or boring: more like this and I’ll be a happy little bunny.
If you like these and want more of the same, take a look at the shop. You’ll find lots of holiday costumes just outside the front, and other releases inside.
Love Bug: $650 ; Darkspell: $275L ; Sexy Thoughts: $275L
BabyDoll’s
Babydolls don’t usually get my juices flowing – creative or otherwise – but there are exceptions to every rule. BabyDoll LaFontaine has branded her designs under the same name, and I have to say that I like her style.
Dark Geisha is probably a costume piece, but naturally that won’t prevent me from roaming the streets in it.
Complete with hair sticks (not pictured, I was in a piggy-buns mood today), boots and a fan for each hand, you can leap straight out of the changing room and into your new role as a Japanese artiste with a rather naughty streak. The silk print is trimmed with silver and features black piping throughout, which meant it would be a mean feat to line up everything exactly: the bottom to top joins are not quite perfect and due to the patterning the side seams are defined, but it’s the sort of thing that isn’t really going to be noticed by anyone who isn’t obsessed with lines, as I think you can see if you scrutinise the pictures. Besides, if you choose the peephole bra top (see the linked picture for uncensored version) or indeed no bra top at all, I’m sure it will be enough of a distraction to allay any concerns.
Everything is layered so you can create your own look, which I always think is great in any outfit, and it also means some parts could be further utilised to create your own masterpieces. No prim skirt here, but the system skirt is neatly made and certainly short enough to ensure that everything beneath is entirely visible. For your convenience, the outfit comes with two versions of the teddy bottom to either preserve your modesty or demonstrate to the world what a shameless hussy you really are.
Guess which one I’ll be wearing tonight.
Babydoll also sent me a copy of her fantastic new release ‘Poison Ivy’. This is definitely costume, but oh so much fun. I must admit to being slightly dubious about turning quite so green, but when I donned the set I was completely won over. I feel like a sexed up dryad; I want to find some shrubbery to conceal myself in and leap out at random strangers in an attempt to inject some excitement into their day.
The makeup on the skin is very nicely done. I love the eyes; smoky tones to the lid with a dash of drama added by the red
splurges at the sockets. There’s a hint of blush, and some minor blemishes across the nose and cheeks, with that superbly noxious lipstick to finish off. The shading across the body is subtle but defined enough to give rounding in all the appropriate places, with shading to the throat and back which I might have expected to be missed; in case you’re wondering, you can walk around naked without feeling ashamed, but you may have to explain the toxic green nipples. You’ll have to take a look at the kitty for yourself.
The suit itself is fairly simple in essence but it works incredibly well: the skin tight body is laced with ivy leaves and snaking tendrils, vines climbing across the back, up the arms and from the boots to the thighs. Everything you see is included with this set, save the hair: and I’m sure you can find something with a bit more jazz to it that would suit this even better. Just make sure it’s red!
Babydoll’s costumes are fun and well made; if you haven’t already done so, ‘port over and take a look for yourself.
Dark Geisha: $500L ; Poison Ivy: $1000L
